The Government has invested heavily in the Green Deal. We have yet to see the promised promotion rolled out but it is hoped that the public will embrace the Green Deal Initiative and take it on board. Many have commented on the cost of the initial assessment, although it is rumoured that some assessments will be carried out for free.
Critics say that it will be hard to sell the benefits of the Green Deal to consumers. Many don’t wish to be lumbered with additional debt, others say that new purchasers of the “improved” property may cite the debt added as a reason not to buy the property. Whatever your view, the Green Deal is here and the Government intends to commence a campaign of educating the consumer.
If your company is prepared to undergo the accreditation and certification required to become a Green Deal Provider or Installer and you are confident it will be marketed right, then it may be worth considering. This is a brand new scheme and whether it takes off or not, remains to be seen.
